We presented the IDF Award at the MakeDox Creative Documentary Film Festival to the inspiring documentary project No Offence, directed by Lucija Marčec (Croatia). As part of the award, the project is invited to participate in the East Doc Platform 2026 in Prague, where the team will have the opportunity to take part in individual meetings within the East Doc Market. Congratulations!

No Offence (Croatia) — dir. Lucija Marčec; prods. Ema Mikolaci, Ida Barac

In Medzimurje, a small Croatian region shaped by tensions between the Croatians and Roma, the arrival of Nepalese workers is a catalyst for bringing back unresolved conflicts. We follow three grandmothers all named Ana, representing Croatians, three Roma football players and three Nepalese workers in the food industry who almost literally feed everyone else. The exploration of collective identity reveals the cycle of discrimination repeating: those once seen as victims, like the Roma community, now judge and discriminate the Nepalese. So the film literally breaks this cycle, it’s not only an observation, but intervention. Bringing otherwise completely segregated groups together, breaking the fourth wall creates empathy and gives a humorous touch while creating a much needed dialogue.

Jury statement: "The Institute of Documentary Film Award – Invitation to East Doc Platform – East Silver Market 2026 goes to a project that captures with clarity and sensitivity how cycles of exclusion repeat in a historically divided Croatian region, where yesterday’s victims become today’s oppressors. The award goes to No Offence."

The East Doc Platform takes place March 19-25, 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic.
