Ewan Waddell is an award-winning British filmmaker, journalist and researcher. He is the latest recipient of the Wim Wenders Award, and his debut feature, The Longer You Bleed, premiered at Hot Docs 2025. The film later won the FIPRESCI Prize at Beyond Borders Festival, received Jury Distinction at Szczecin Film Festival, and was nominated, at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, for Best Documentary and the Supreme Jury Prize. Waddell's films often investigate the intersection between psychology, culture and human rights. His editorial practice focuses on structural experimentation, thematic layering, and the integration of observational material with essayistic and archival elements. He received First-class Honours from the University of Leeds, was Valedictorian in his MA at Catalyst Institute, Berlin, and holds a Research Fellowship at UC Berkeley. Waddell's latest documentary, The Archivist of Chornobyl, commissioned by Al Jazeera English, explores cultural heritage preservation in Ukraine's Chornobyl region. He is now in development for his next film, exploring the clinical research into psychedelics for trauma therapy in wartime Ukraine.
